PRODUCT SELECTION GUIDE

CABLE GLAND(STRAIN RELIEF)

A strain relief or cable gland can provide protection to the wires and cable by securing the cable of a power cord to the panel of the eetical equipment It helps to protect from stress and damage as it rumns through thepancel of the equipment. While it does not relieve strain on a cable as it exits the cquipment, it does relieve the strain on the clectrical conection and circuity inside the equipment.

The term "stain relief is commonly used in North America, while“cable gland" is conmonly used throughout Europe and the other pats of the world.

METHOD OF ATTACHMENT TO THE CORD

Cord attachment refers to bhow the strain relifcable gland and cord are assembled together. Many slide on over the cord and then are tightened down onto the jacket. Some are molded permanently onto the cable. Molded strain relicfs/cable glands bond to the cable in order to hold the cablc in place and fill the junction. There is also a mcchanical snap-on strain reliefcable gland. These arc not liquid-tight and like the molded ones, snap into Cutouts with a squared or flat side.

MATERIAL OF THE STRAIN RELIEF/CABLE GLAND

Strain relifs/cable glands come in a mumber of different materials, such as nickel-plated brass, nylon, and stainless stecl. It should be noted that nylon fttings installed in a thureaded connection and cxposed to clevated temperatures should be rctained with a sealing compound to avoid a loose connection when temperatures fluctuatc.

MOUNTING THREADS

A strain relief/eable gland can be thureaded and assembled in diferent ways. Iwo exanples are the mounting threads can be threaded diretly into the panel of the equipment or it cean be eased through a clearance bole in the panel and ftted with a locking nnt.

CABLE AND WIRE SIZE

Cable size is extremely important when specifying a cable gland. The outer diameter of the cable must be known in order to select the appropriate strain relief/cable gland. Each one has a specification of either a specific cable outer diameter size or a range of cable outer diameters it will fit.

THREAD TYPE

Different typcs of mounting threads that are available includc: NPT (National Pipe Thread) which is the American standard; PG (stahlpancrobhr-Gewinde; also called Panzergewinde) which is the Europcan standard (German military thread); and metri, which is a general purpose thread used worldwide. The thread system chosen depends on the location the equiprment will be used.

If the mounting panel being used has threads, then the strain reliefcable gland should be choscn to match. If the panel has a clearance hole, then the strain relief cable gland should be chosen according to where the part will be used in the world. If the market is in North America, for examplc, then choose from the NPT threaded scries. If it's in the European Union, choose metric threads for new equipment and insallations. The PG thread is typically for replacement parts for existing insallations.

PRODUCTION PROCESS

1. SHAPING PROCESS

Corrugated conduit after forming, due to elastic rebound to the corrugated pipe spacing. wave type and suction meter requirements are dfferent. must be plastic. For the processing of hardened material made of corrugated conduit, generally by hand and mechanical shaping two methods. For the dispersion of hardened material of the corrugated conduit, it will be loaded into the aging fixture aging. so that the corrugated conduit shape, in order to achieve the shaping ffect.

2. STABILIZATION PROCESS

Corrugated conduit in the process, will produce intemal stress, 50 that the shell and the gcometric size of instability. The purpose of stabilizing the corugated conduit is to eliminate stress, stabilize performance,and stabilize the geometry. The stabilization of corrugated conduit includes heat stabilization process and mechanical stabilization process. Under normal circumstances only for heat stability treatment, there are special requirements only when the need for mechanical stbility.

The precise poessing of the corrugated conduit, will be able to eftivele gyuarantee its quality, to ensure its good application efect.

SHIELDING - ELECTROMAGNETIC COMPATIBILITY (EMC) TECHNICAL DATA SINCE THE PROVISIONS OF THE ELECTROMAGNETIC COMPATIBILITY, EMC IN THE RELEVANT EQUIPMENT TO ADD MORE MEANING.

Equipment is subjeet to the provisions:

1, the ocurenee of elctronmagnetic interference must be limited, otherwise such equipment can not be produeed.

2, if the device has good anti-lectromagnetie interference performance, its production is not restricted.

Equipment manufacturers to meet the requirements, increasing demand for the use of shielded connectors, The shiclded cable can be connected using a conductive housing connected to a shielded cablc. Care should be taken when using the circular conncctor to crfully introducc the shield of the cable to the shicld end of the concctor, Therefore, it is preferablc to have a 360 degrce circular support. If the shield is scurely conected to the conductive housing, a good shielding valu can be achieved.

Pure plastic conncctors do not have a metal housing. The shicld of the cable can not be connccted drctly.

Summary: it is important to achieve the integrity of the plug and socket connection between, and make it re-conmection between the instrument base.

Firc 94V levcl clssification

Plastie flame retardant grade from HB, V-2, V-1 to V-0 step by step increments:

HB: UL94 standard in the lowest flame retardant rating. For samples of3 to 13 mm thick, the burning rate is less than 40 mm per minute; for samples less than 3 mm thick, the burming rate is less than 70 mm per minute; or extinguished before the 100 mm mark.

V-2: After two 10-second burming tests on the sample, the flame is extinguished in 60 seconds. There may be a buming substance that falls off.

V-1: After two 10-second burning tests on the sample, the flame is extinguished in 60 seconds. Can not have combustion material fall

V-0: The flame is extinguished within 30 seconds afer two 10-second burning tests on the sample. Can not have combustion mater.
